Born on October 30, 1978 in Paris, Thomas Ngijol was propelled to the forefront of the French entertainment scene in the 2000s through stand-up comedy. He made his mark in cinema in 2011 with Case départ, which marked the beginning of a career that explores, both in front of and behind the camera, questions of identity and legacy. He went on to direct Fastlife (2013) and Black Snake (2017), in both of which he also starred, affirming a taste for popular narratives dealing with issues of power and domination.
In 2025, he directs and stars in Indomptables, a gripping crime thriller set in Yaoundé, where he plays a police officer and family man on the verge of a breakdown. Presented at the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes, selected by several international festivals, and recipient of both the Marc-André Lussier Jury Prize at the CINEMANIA festival and the Claude Chabrol Prize at the Reims Polar International Crime Film Festival, Indomptables marks a turning point in his career, demonstrating his versatility as an artist.
That same year, he appears in the series Empathie, winner of the Audience Award at the Séries Mania Festival 2025, where he plays a response officer in a psychiatric institute — a role praised for its authenticity and sensitivity.
